According to a CNBC article in 2018 citing data from Newzoo, the game had more than 50 million daily active users. Five years have passed since then, though, so the current number can be vastly different.
According to Statista, the game has more than 597 million total downloads across Android and iOS in August 2023 and ActivePlayer IO, which predicts daily active users, says that it stands at over 1 million for Clash Royale.
Thus, the game still has millions of active users, though it’s hard to predict the exact number.
Supercell is still actively investing in the game along with an active esports scene for the game. The 2023 World Finals, for example, had a staggering 149,560 peak viewers, per Esports Charts. While this is significantly less than the 2022 edition (228,608 peak viewers), it still indicates that the game still has a loyal player base which Supercell keeps happy with regular updates.

A cash cow for the Finnish developer
A game which has reigned the top charts globally for years now has also made a lot of money for Supercell. In August 2023, the game joined a unique club by generating $4 billion in lifetime revenue, per Sensor Tower.
Only 15 games have ever achieved this feat which includes legendary titles like Genshin Impact, PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, and Clash of Clans.
