In Match 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clashed with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal. SRH skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first.

SRH bowlers restricts CSK for 165

CSK, the defending champions, could manage 165/5 in their stipulated overs. Their innings was anchored by Shivam Dube‘s explosive knock of 45 runs off just 24 deliveries, which included 2 fours and 4 sixes. Ajinkya Rahane (35 runs off 30 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (31 runs off 23 balls) also made valuable contributions to the scoreboard.

The Sunriser’s bowling attack put in a collective effort, with notable performances from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Jaydev Unadkat and Cummins, who each picked up a wicket.

A flying start by SRH batters

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target with relative ease, finishing at 166/4 in just 18.1 overs. Aiden Markram led the charge with a brilliant half-century, scoring 50 runs off 36 balls, supported by Travis Head (31 runs off 24 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (37 runs off 12 balls), who provided solid start in the powerplay.

Despite losing a few wickets towards the end, SRH reached the target comfortably in 18.1 overs, securing a convincing victory by 6 wickets.

The Super Kings’ bowling effort was led by Moeen Ali, who claimed 2 wickets, while Deepak Chahar and Maheesh Theekshana also chipped in with a wicket each.
