Having failed to impress during his loan spell with Brighton and Hove Albion, Barcelona winger Ansu Fati could leave his parent club on a permanent basis at the end of this season, according to Marca.
Not so long ago, the 21-year-old was considered as one of the most promising young talents in world football, having set a number of records at Barcelona (the youngest player to score for Barça in LaLiga; the youngest to wear the Barça shirt in the Champions League…), but those records have now been taken from him by Lamine Yamal.
Having made the temporary switch to the Amex Stadium, Fati has so far racked up just three starts in the Premier League, with an appearance total of 15 in the English top flight, and no more than two goals. He is yet to get his first assist in the competition. Injuries and form dips have impacted his time with Brighton, and though he was fully fit, he wasn’t even included in the squad for the last game against Brentford on Wednesday.
At the end of the season, Fati will first return to Barcelona where his contract has three years left to run, but he probably won’t stay there.
