The Statistically best Batters and Bowlers in the WPL

[ad_1]

Hey everyone this is so far for the group stages and doesn’t include the game yesterday.

True Avg is the difference in average between the batter’s average and the expected average of a batter who has the same over distribution as him. True SR is the difference between the batter’s SR and the expected SR of a batter who has the same over distribution as him

True ER is the difference between their ER and the ER of the average bowler that bowls the same overs as them.

True Wickets is the difference between their Wickets and Expected wickets of the average bowler that bowls the same overs as them.

Batters

For the batters in terms of True average Deepti Sharma dominates this. She has a true average of 76.2 with essentially a neutral true sr. This is a very MS Dhoni way of playing t20 cricket, she bats at a neutral sr throughout the last 10 overs and doesn’t get out doing it.

Elyse Perry even without her heroics yesterday does well on the true average. And she also does it a neutral true sr. This is why I think looking at the true metrics allows us to compare players with different roles. Perry’s entry is around the 4.5 over mark whereas Deepthi’s is around the 8.6 over mark, and Perry’s sr is around 130, whereas Deepthi’s is around 136 yet both have a similar true sr. And the way they go about their overs is quite similar. With Perry almost being the traditional anchor. And Deepthi being a very Dhoni/Bevan esque middle order batter.

We also see Harmanpreet here, she however also does it at a very good true sr of 14.8. She’s had a great season. Then we see Sanjana, Mooney, Ghosh and Rodrigues are all around each other and being equally great this season.

In terms of True SR, Bisht has a great one but she’s only played 5 balls. Shafali pretty much dominates this. She’s really of the Sehwag mould, where she sacrifices the average for that sr, although she still maintained a great true average.

Seeing how many dark blue dots are in the top right region i’d say its fair to say DC’s been the best batting unit.

Bowlers

So in terms of True wickets Kapp truly dominated this. And has a great true er as well. Elyse Perry has the 2nd best true wickets. And an elite true ER. She has truly had an elite season. And she’s been RCB’s best batter and bowler this season. I hope for her sake they win it. Along with perry Asha has been quite good as well. With the true wickets and the true er.

There’s also a lot of DC bowlers on the this side as well. And are the best bowling side as well as the best batting side of the WPL so far.
