Kingswood Golf & Country Club in Surrey has recruited the expertise of The R&A Sustainable Agronomy Service to elevate the player experience on its James Braid-designed golf course by focusing on improving playing surfaces.
Working with their Senior Agronomist, Simon Watson, a plan has been formulated which includes data-driven decision making and long-range planning within a sustainable mainframe to evolve the 96-year-old parkland course which in its past has hosted the Ladies’ European Open.
Kingswood General Manager Ashley Northridge commented: “With the challenge of managing the course with changing weather patterns and a desire to enhance our golf course to impress members and guests, we felt it key to bring on board an organisation that would help us achieve our goals in a sustainable manner.
“We are totally onboard and already at the second visit stage and are delighted to see the changes already making a difference. The course has weathered the winter well and is on target for a fast start to the spring/summer season. We are excited to see where the journey will take us especially with our centenary in 2028, when we will be hosting the Surrey Amateur Championship.”
