What’s interesting about this leak is that most of the changes you are about to see were confirmed by Blizzard. In fact, there was a teaser that revealed some of the things we expect to see in Overwatch 2 Season 9. The changes consist of many tweaks to Competitive Play, a new rank, Jade weapon skins, and much more.

Release Date & New Game Mode

The Overwatch 2 Season 9 release date should be February 13, 2024, because the season will start immediately after the end of the previous one. As for when exactly, some sources claim it will begin at around 10 AM GMT, but no one can confirm it.

One of the first things that was shown in the Overwatch 2 Season 9 patch notes leak is the new game mode. It will be a PvE mode that will be based around Moira. In the trailer, there is a creature saying “accept my gifts, and all will be yours”, and the goal will be for players to find a way and prevent this from happening. By the looks of it, this game mode will be a part of a series of cosmic theme events

Hero Mastery Course – Overwatch 2 Season 9

Something that a lot of people expect to see in Overwatch 2 Season 9 is the brand new Hero Master course. It’s called “Gauntlet”, and it will be a PvE co-op mode where you will be in a team of three players and have to defend towers that are placed around the map.. The idea is to defend those towers by killing all opponents that will try to destroy them.

Hero Changes in Overwatch 2 Season 9

When it comes down to the Overwatch 2 Season 9 Patch Notes leak, we will have a lot of hero changes. One of the biggest ones we expect to see is related to Pharah and her Rocket Launcher. The latter will inflict less self-damage and should be able to fire rockets at an increased speed. According to the news, there should also be a new ability called Jet Dash, which will be on a 10s cooldown.

Besides the big changes related to Pharah, the Overwatch 2 Season 9 Patch Notes leak also states that all ultimates will cost 10% more. Also, almost all heroes will receive some kind of buffs or nefs, but we will wait until the official Overwatch 2 Season 9 arrives to cover all of them.

Projectile Size Changes, Hero Pool and New role passives

According to Blizzard, there will be changes to the hitscan projectiles and travel time so that they feel better to hit. The idea here is to remove the “random miss” that occurred before.

In addition to these changes, we also expect to see heroes have a larger hero pool. A lot of the names we know will receive a 25/50 HP boost, whereas some tanks may get up to 100 HP extra. The idea here is to make heroes tankier before because it will be easier for us to land our shots.

As covered before, the support passive in Overwatch 2 will be reworked, and it will start regenerating after 2.5s. Furthermore, all DPS heroes will get a new passive ability that will reduce the healing done to a given target by 20% when they are attacking it. 

Of course, tanks are also not left behind because they will have more HP, less knockback duration, and less ultimate charge generated by healing and damage received.
