Coming into Monday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles were four-point road favorites coming off of two demoralizing losses to top NFC teams. Most people expected the Eagles to handle their business in Seattle, especially with the Seahawks starting backup quarterback Drew Lock.
The Eagles were in control for a good chunk of the game, but Lock had a story to write with the game on the line. With just under two minutes left in the game down by four points, Lock led a 10-play, 92-yard drive that ended with a game-winning touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Drew Lock gives fantastic postgame interview
Following the game, Lock gave a candid, honest interview where he spoke about what stepping in and winning this game felt like for him.
It’s so tough to be a backup and have to step in in such a big game, especially against the reigning NFC champions, and deliver. But Lock did exactly that, and he won over a lot of casual fans with his postgame words.
There won’t be any quarterback controversy, as head coach Pete Carroll insisted after the game that Geno Smith will remain the starter. Speaking of Smith, he was hyped for his teammate after the touchdown pass.
The Seahawks are now 7-7 and squarely in the NFC playoff picture. They’re in 8th place but have the same record as the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams in front of them. They get the Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals in the final three weeks of the season.
